HYPE-Richmond Inc. aims to provide the young professionals (ages 21-40) of Richmond, Indiana with professional, leadership, and networking opportunities that promote their growth and development within our community. HYPE-Richmond Inc. will serve in a collaborative capacity that promotes these opportunities between local businesses and organizations, our members, and the surrounding Richmond area.
Roxie Deer is a life-long Richmond resident. After graduating from Richmond High School, she attended the College of Wooster to get a BA in Sociology. Upon returning to Richmond, she began working at The Excel Center Richmond as a Life Coach. After completing her Masters in Education, Roxie switched to Indiana University East, working with first year students and their transition to college. In 2018, Roxie transferred to the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce where she serves as the Director of Programs and Events.
Roxie has a passion for her community and serves and volunteers for many local nonprofits. When she is not busy working or volunteering she enjoys time with her three puppies, Hudson Reign, Cash Money and Mischa Marie. She loves to golf, travel and considers herself a major foodie.
Jordan Gehring was raised in Goshen before moving to Defiance, Ohio where she earned her Bachelor's degree in English and Communication Studies from Defiance College. Upon graduation, she was hired to coordinate Defiance's Service Leadership Program where she spent three years building community service projects for students while also working towards her Master's degree in Education. Following her husband to Richmond, Jordan was hired at Indiana University East as a Success Coach for online students. Wanting to become more involved in the community, Jordan joined the Board of HYPE-Richmond and now holds the position of Secretary.
Jordan is married to Earlham College Golf Coach, Matt Gehring, and has a cat named Echo. She loves to travel and has been to Italy, Belize, London, Tanzania, and Nicaragua completing academic or service related projects.
Professional Development chair
Mark Broeker was raised in Rockport, Indiana before attending Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Public Administration. He later completed his Master’s degree in Human Resources Development at Indiana State University. Mark works for Reid Health in the Human Resources Department. Wanting to play a role in building a solid foundation and prosperous future for Richmond and Wayne County, Mark joined HYPE-Richmond and now holds the Professional Development Chair position.
Mark is married to his wife Megan and has two dogs named Gabby and Breez. In his spare time, Mark enjoys to travel and learn about different cultures around the world, watching sports and going on new adventures with his wife and dogs.
Social event CHAIR
Megan Broeker, was raised in Hartford City, Indiana before attending Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana completing her undergraduate degree in Sports and Recreation Management with a concentration in Recreation Therapy. She later completed her Master’s Degree in Public Health in 2018 through Indiana State University. Megan is currently the Executive Director for Drug Free Wayne County Partnership and manages the Drug Free Communities grant for Wayne County. Being new to the Wayne County area, Megan joined HYPE-Richmond in order to make professional connections and to give back to the community by helping other young professionals connect with each other. Megan now holds the Social Event Chair position for the HYPE-Richmond Board.
Megan is married to her husband and has two dogs, Gabby and Breez. In her free time, she enjoys spending time out in the wilderness camping and hiking, being with her family, sporting events and reading. Megan also enjoys traveling and experiencing new adventures with her husband and dogs.
Miranda Armstead was born and raised in Eaton, Ohio. She started her undergraduate career at Ball State University then transferred to Indiana University East where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2017. Miranda has worked at Genesis of Richmond, Inc. since 2014 where she serves as Program Director and Victim Advocate. Miranda joined HYPE-Richmond in order to become more involved in the community; making professional and personal connections while also helping give other young professionals in the area do the same.
Miranda lives in Eaton and in her spare time she likes to spend time with her family and friends. She loves to ride Off Road Vehicles, camping, and anything else outdoors.
